“People wake up”: Watch the trailer for “99%,” the Occupy Wall Street film

As of this writing, the documentary is being shown in exactly two theaters in the United States — in New York and LA. This seems like preaching to the choir, and a real shame. Is this the last gasp of a fleeting movement, or a valiant attempt to keep the conversation going? The message of the Occupy movement resonates (or should resonate) with more people than just the liberal moviegoers of Manhattan and Hollywood, and deserves to be spread more widely.

Another blinding small mass action by a few who CANNOT act forever on this action against a force far beyond, far more powerful laughing and cynically pointing their dirt fingers… Yeah “we wake up” every day, but to do is something far difficult… You want to be a martyr??? Be a practical voice within your family… They cant survive with words !!!

    • True, words are not enough. But words can be a start, and can inspire future action, if enough people listen.

And who says that the Occupy protesters are ONLY doing street protests? Are you so sure that they’re not also taking other actions in their individual lives, and being “practical voices” within their families? It doesn’t have to be either/or.

Can they “act forever”? Maybe not. Can they win against “a force far beyond, far more powerful”? Maybe not. But that doesn’t mean that lifting your voice isn’t the right thing to do anyway.
